How to Make a TV Projector Box
A high-definition video projector can connect to your cable or satellite TV receiver so you can watch TV on a theater-size projection screen. But you need a place and method to properly mount the projector to get the best picture. You can accomplish this by making a box to mount to the ceiling and store the projector in. It will keep the projector out of the way and give you the best height and angle to display the projector picture.
Things You'll Need
- Plywood
- Saw
- Drill/screwdriver with screws
- Hammer/nail gun with nails
- L-shaped furniture brackets
- Ledger board

1
Choose a spot for the projector and box to be mounted. This needs to be a spot on the ceiling where the projector can be wired to your TV input source (cable or satellite box).
-
2
Measure the size and depth of your projector and draw out the designs for a projector box that will fit it. The size of the box must allow plenty of air circulation to avoid overheating.

3
Cut the pieces for the box out of plywood and nail them together. The box only needs a full bottom piece and two side pieces, since the front and back need clearance for the lens and cables. Screw L-shaped brackets onto the side pieces so they can mount to the ceiling from the box's "top."
-
4
Screw the box into the ceiling, making sure the screws go into the ceiling joists. If there are no joists in your exact mounting location, screw a wide ledger board into the joists closest to the area and attach the box to the ledger board.

5
Insert the projector into the box, plug it in and connect it to your TV source. Turn on the projector to make sure it is sending the TV signal and focus the lens as needed.

Tips & Warnings
You only connect the TV's video to the projector, so use an S-video or component (red, green and blue plugs) cable or just the yellow plug of a composite cable. The audio will connect to speakers with RCA audio (red and white) cables.
