Babies are known for putting nearly anything in their mouths, especially their toys. Plush and fabric toys are simple to throw into the washing machine to clean, but it can be more difficult to ensure that plastic, wood and metal toys are properly sanitized. Oxygenated bleach is a non-toxic, sanitizing powder that you can mix with water to clean infant toys. It is also an environmentally friendly alternative to regular household bleach.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dish scrubber
  • Dish soap
  • Hot water
  • Oxygenated bleach
  • Towel
  1. Step 1

Fill the sink with the hottest water you can stand. Add 3 tbsp. of mild dish soap.

  2. Step 2

Scrub the toys to remove all the dirt and grime with a dish scrubber used only for this purpose. Be careful not to scrub any stickers on the toys, as this will remove them.

  3. Step 3

Rinse the toys off in clear water to remove all the soap.

  4. Step 4

Mix oxygenated bleach powder with water according to package instructions. Rinse the toys a second time in this solution.

  5. Step 5

Blot any stickers dry with a clean towel, then set the toys on the towel to air dry completely.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always make sure that any cleaning solution you use is marked as non-toxic.
