Personalized cookies make excellent desserts or favors for baby showers. They are inexpensive to make, and guests can have a sweet treat to enjoy at the party or to take home. If you are hosting a baby shower, serving decorated cookies is a great way to commemorate the special event. Cookies are easier to eat than cake, and you won't need to stock up on plates and utensils to serve them.

Things You'll Need:

  • Cookies
  • Frosting in various colors
  • Candy decorations
  • Sprinkles
  • Thin ribbon
  • Icing
  • Basket
  1. Step 1

As an easy and sweet decorating option, make heart-shaped cookies and put two holes at the top of the design before baking. After the cookies are done, put a thin ribbon through the holes and tie it into a bow.

  2. Step 2

Commemorate the special day by decorating the tops of sugar cookies with the date and the names of the baby and the mother and father to be. To create thin lines, use gel icing, which is available in several colors and comes in a handy squeeze tube.

  3. Step 3

Cut out sugar cookies in sweet baby-inspired designs, such as safety pins, bibs, rocking horses, storks and bottles. Use homemade or store-bought colored frosting to decorate the cookies. To create an authentic look, use candy sprinkles and decorations. For instance, use silver candy beads to make the "safety pins" and a jelly bean to create an "eye" on the rocking horse cutout.

  4. Step 4

Create a delicious "floral" basket of cookies. Make flower-shaped cookies using a cookie cutter. Next, frost them with blue frosting for a boy baby or pink frosting for a girl. If you don't know the baby's gender, choose a neutral shade, such as green or yellow. After the cookies are frosted, insert a wooden stick at the bottom of them. Fill the bottom of a woven basket with foam and insert the cookie sticks into it, so the sticks stand up. You can make individual baskets for each guest, or one big basket for everyone to share.

  5. Step 5

As a fun baby shower contest, have guests decorate their own freshly-baked cookies. Supply sugar cookies in various baby-influenced shapes, and a mix of toppings, such as frosting, candy, gel icing and sprinkles. Hold a contest for the best-decorated cookie; guests can enjoy their hard work at the end of the game.
