How to Remove a Stain From a Mattress

Other people might never know about the stain on your mattress, but you will. If sleeping on a discolored spot gives you the creeps then here's a simple method to remove that mattress stain.

Removing the spot this way will prevent your mattress from becoming wet, which can cause mold and mildew to form in the padding. A moldy mattress is a stinky mattress, so read on to avoid turning your stain problem into an odor problem.

Things You'll Need:

• Soft brush
• laundry detergent
• electric beaters

1. Pour about 1/2 cup of laundry detergent into a large bowl.

2. Using the electric beaters, slowly add warm water one tablespoon at a time and whip until the bowl is filled with suds. You just want to create lots of suds, so only use as much water as necessary.

3. Take the whipped suds and apply them to the stain on your mattress. Use the soft brush to scrub at the stain in a circular motion until it fades. Keep reapplying the suds as needed until the stain vanishes.

4. Allow the mattress to dry completely before making the bed.
