The Red River Gorge is a 29,000-acre, scenic natural area within the Daniel Boone National Forest in east-central Kentucky. Geologic features include more than 100 natural stone arches, spectacular rock formations, swimming-holes and sandstone cliffs. The Red River Gorge is open for year-round public use, including rock climbing and river rafting. Numerous rental cabins are nestled in quiet wooded locations in the Red River Gorge geological area. Rental cabins are available near lakes, tucked away on mountainsides, and near major attractions such as the Nada Tunnel and the Gladie Historic Site.

The lodging page for Kentucky Tourism (kentuckytourism.com/places_to_stay/ky_lodging.aspx) lists a range of rental options throughout the state, including Red River Gorge and surrounding areas. On the "places to stay" page enter "Red River Gorge" as the keyword. Choose the category that says "cabins, cottages & condos." Select "Daniel Boone Country" as the region. You will see more than 10 rental companies listed, as of 2011, each featuring numerous cabins of varying size. "Visit Powell County" is another tourism office with cabin rentals listed on its website (visitpowellcounty.com). You will find cabins in and around Red River Gorge, Natural Bridge State Park and the Daniel Boone National Forest.
