With today's economy, everyone is looking for little ways to save money. Making a few small changes to what and how you buy can end up saving you a lot of money.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Buy generic brands instead of brand name. Do you really need the $10 can of coffee when the generic brand is selling for $6? Don't spend more for a name brand, especially since there is rarely a difference in quality.

  2. Step 2

Start clipping coupons from the Sunday paper. Even though the coupons may not give you a large discount, if you use a few of them on each visit to the store and the store doubles or triples them, you will end up saving quite a bit off of each bill. You can even find batches of coupons for specific items, such as bread or milk, on ebay.

  3. Step 3

Always shop online. Most electronics can be found cheaper online, especially on amazon or ebay. If you are shopping for clothes, search on ebay and add NWT (new with tags) to your search. You will be able to buy brand new clothes at a fraction of the cost.

  4. Step 4

If you eat out a lot, buy an entertainment book. It is full of coupons that offer a decent discount, and after eating out once or twice the book will pay for itself.

  5. Step 5

Sign up for as many rewards programs and cards as you can, especially for grocery stores, as long as they are free. You have nothing to lose, and many of the programs don't even require you to carry the card with you to the store.

  6. Step 6

Look for a credit card that offers rewards. Many of them offer cash back when you shop at grocery stores, gas stations, or even when you pay bills.

  7. Step 7

Learn how to make things at home. Many beauty or cleaner products can easily be made at home for pennies, and the recipes can be quickly found online.
