Step 1
Be very specific in your instructions. This is the MOST important aspect of working with a freelance provider or someone online. If you are not face to face, make sure that your instructions are crystal clear and that you allow for questions from the provider.
-
Step 2
Be available to your provider. Have time set aside to communicate regularly with your freelance employee. This will allow for a free flow of communication and will improve the relationship.
-
Step 3
Pay your freelance employee on time and as expected. The freelance worker is relying on receiving the money for the services rendered and you will severely damage your relationship if you don't pay as agreed.
-
Step 4
If you have a problem with your freelance provider, talk with them. Call them up and discuss the problem so you can resolve the issue effectively. Email messages can be misinterpreted so phone calls are the preferred method to discuss problems and how to improve performance.
-
Step 5
If your freelance worker is awesome, tell him/her so. Provide praise when deserved. If possible and you feel like it, provide a bonus for a job well done or a quick time frame that was met.
