When a loved one deploys, it is very hard to deal with. It's never easy, but with some helpful tips, you will be well on your way to successfully surviving a deployment.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Write to them often. Send letters and emails every day if you can. Let them know about what happened in your day, so that they feel connected to you. Send lots of pictures in your letters as well.

  2. Step 2

Make care packages. When a loved one is deployed, there is nothing better than a package from home. Try to do one weekly or biweekly. It can be really entertaining to think of things to include in the packages and gives you a chance to be creative.

  3. Step 3

Keep a journal. This will be a time in your life that definitely needs record. This can also be something your spouse reads when he/she comes home.

  4. Step 4

Exercise. Get into shape. Working out will give you something to work towards- looking awesome for when your spouse comes home. Even just walking around the neighborhood every day will be wonderful.

  5. Step 5

Get involved. Become involved in the community. Take up a class at a local community college on something fun like how to play guitar! Anything that will occupy your time and get you out of the house will be awesome.

  6. Step 6

Spend lots of time with your friends and family. Go to dinner with them and to the movies. Go window shopping at the mall. Again, anything to get you out of the house will be beneficial to you!

  7. Step 7

Start an ongoing project like making a blanket or anything crafty. Work on it a little every day until your spouse is home.
