How to Skip Long Lines For Your Virginia State Car Inspection

Every year, Virginia residents have to have their automobiles inspected. At the end of every month, the lines for these inspections get out of control. Here is an easy way to avoid spending an hour or more in line while waiting for your Virginia state car inspection.

Instructions

1. Your assigned a month for your inspection. This is printed on a sticker you have to keep in your front window. Mark this down on a calendar. If it's more helpful to you, use your Iphone or Google Calendar.

2. Now, on your calendar, pick a Tuesday or a Wednesday during the second or third week of that month. Traditionally, as I have been told by state inspectors, the middle of the week in the middle of the month is the slowest times for state inspections. Mark this day and stick to it.

3. Now, on this day, you have many hours to choose from to take your car for an inspection. Of course, this will be partially dictated by your work schedule. If you can, take your car either in mid-morning, 10-11, or mid afternoon 2-4. The middle of the day (excluding the lunch hour) during the middle of the week in the middle of the month is the absolute slowest times for car inspections in Virginia. Most people do it at the very beginning or the very end of the month.

4. Still, bring a book or a game to play. Though this will, typically, reduce the time you wait for an inspection, it is not fool proof.

• If you have a chance, scope the inspection locations near your home and take note of the ones you see with the smallest lines.
