How to Donate Toys
Families often struggle to provide their children with the necessities of life but sometimes lack enough funds to buy them toys. Many organizations accept toy donations to accommodate underprivileged children that haven't had the opportunity to receive toys. You can easily donate any unused toys stacked in your closets or basement to organizations that will ensure they reach needy children who would love to play with them.

1
Donate toys to local Toys for Tots offices. The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve created this program to distribute toys at Christmas for less fortunate children. Visit the Toys for Tots website and select the state you live in to find the contact information for your local branch. Box the toys you plan to donate and drop them off at the local office.

Donate toys to the Goodwill. This organization prefers all donations to be intact. Ensure any electrical toys, board games or other children games you donate are cleaned, include all the pieces and are in working order. Do not donate items that have been broken, are recalled or are unclean. Visit Goodwill's website to search for the closest Goodwill in your area.

Donate toys to church organizations. Churches often have volunteer ministries that accept food, clothing, toys and other items as part of their missionary work. You do not have to belong to the particular church to donate. Most local churches would appreciate extra items to help their congregation or the community. Contact the church and inquire about their hours of operation and donation procedures.

Donate to homeless shelters. Homeless shelters in every city and town publish lists of things needed to help local men, women and children. Go to The Homeless Shelter Directory at homelessshelterdirectory.org to find a homeless shelter in your region. Contact the office before dropping off your toys.
