The human body is programmed to function cyclically. There are three main digestion cycles: Cleansing, Absorption, and Assimilation. Eating according to your body cycles will aid in digestion which will in turn help with energy levels and healthy weight.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Cleansing occurs from night to mid morning. Assist your body in this cycle by not eating at night, especially two hours before bed. Eating before bed confuses the body, starting digestion and stalling the cleansing process. Eat a cleansing breakfast of lemon water, fresh fruit, low sugar vegetable juices, and raw/low starch vegetables. Morning is the time to take fiber supplements and cleansing herbs. Eat what will aid in the cleansing cycle.

  2. Step 2

Absorption occurs from mid morning to mid afternoon. Your body is programmed to digest and absorb nutrients now; so this is when the bulk of food should be eaten!

  3. Step 3

Assimilation occurs mid afternoon to evening. This is when your body is distributing nutrients to your organs. Eat easily digested foods, such as raw vegetables. This way, your body can focus on assimilating the nutrients from the majority of food eaten midday and not on digesting a heavy dinner.

  4. Step 4

Summary: Eat a cleansing breakfast. Eat the majority of nutrients from mid morning to mid afternoon. Eat a light, easily digested dinner.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't beat yourself up if you don't stick to these tips exactly. Just be aware of these guidelines and for your own healthy, try to adhere to them.
