      Get a copy of your appraisal and compare your home's valuation to last years. Because of the downturn in real estate values in Austin there is a chance that your home is still appraised at last year's higher value. It the appraisal on your home has increased or has not been lowered you should consider protesting.

      Fill out the back of the form. On the back side of your property appraisal will be a space to protest your appraised value. Fill this out form and mail it in. You will be mailed a notice of the date of your hearing. You will be expected to show up and provide a reasonable explanation of why you think your appraisal was too high. You must attend in person or have an attorney do so for you.
