Things You'll Need:
- A computer with Internet Access
-
Step 1
Find out how it works. Insurance for your cat isn't all that different than human insurance. There is a deductible, premiums, a co-pay and varying rates based on age and what you want covered. Most won't cover pre-existing conditions and certain breeds are even excluded.
-
Step 2
Decide on what you want. Some pet insurance covers everything from vaccines and routine visits to major surgeries. Some only cover the big stuff. Obviously the lower the premium the less it will cover.
-
Step 3
Get a multi-animal discount. Try to get a multi-pet discount. Most insurers will offer this, which will bring your premium down
-
Step 4
Get a plan specifically for your animal. For example plans are designed for in-door cats only. Others are only for accidents.
-
Step 5
Check out PetInsuranceReview.com. This site offers useful reviews of the best and worst pet insurance providers from people who have used their services. They are very honest in their assessment of the companies. They also give you all the monthly rates and contact details for the insurers in both the US and Canada.
