Things You'll Need:
- Xbox 360
- Computer
- Ethernet cable
- Windows media player 11
- Wifi adapter
- Wireless Adapter
- Audio and video cables
-
Step 1
Hard wire your Xbox 360 and computer. Make sure you have your Xbox and PC turned off. Plug your Ethernet cable into your computer then your Xbox and then turn on your computer. Start windows media player 11. Once your computer is running with media player 11 turn your Xbox 360 on. Wait for windows to recognize the sharing between your Xbox and computer. A small icon will popup in the lower right hand corner saying local area connection. Once you get the icon close it and go to the library in windows media player 11 and go to media sharing. In the media sharing you will see an icon for the Xbox 360. Select allow this at the bottom of the icon for the Xbox 360. Leave the Windows media player open. Then go to Xbox 360 and choose music, photos or video. Then choose computer on screen that has popped up and let it search for computer. When it finds the computer it will show your computer address. You will connect by pressing your Xbox 360 controller button. Hurray you did it! Keep your media player active on your desktop of your computer. If you close it out, you will lose the connection to the 360. (see resources)
-
Step 2
Share your PC video and audio with your Xbox 360. Purchase a VGA video cable and a VGA switch box. Your switch box will share the monitor from the PC to the Xbox just by a push of a button. Sharing the audio from your PC to the Xbox you will need 2 RCA jack adapters and gender changer to handle your sound. If you do a little research I believe there is a switch box out there for switching sound between your PC and Xbox. If you hook it up this way you will have to manually unplug and plug in cables for each machine. (see resources)
-
Step 3
Activate the wireless connection between your Xbox 360 and the internet. To connect the wireless way you will need a wifi adapter for the Xbox and a wireless router. Once you have made the connection go to the setup screen, go to system area then network settings and edit settings and look for wireless mode and look for your SSID and select it. Enter your pass phrase (if you have one) and hit enter. Once there select if WEP or WPA, your ISP should tell you. Select test Xbox live and if the test passes you are good to go. You can now spend some time on the internet. (see resources)
