1. Open Microsoft Word and go to the "Start" button or "File" menu. Choose the "New" command and create a document based on a banner template. Each banner template has several pages, depending upon how long you want the banner to be.

2. Each page of your banner will have a graphic. Replace each graphic in the template with one of your own by going to the "Insert" menu and choosing the "Picture" option. When the photo appears in the template you will need to size it to the page. To do this, select the image and drag the frame around the photo until the photo is re-sized where you want it.

3. Add text to the photo if you want, then format the text using standard text formatting features for font choice, size and color. You can add a border around the photo if you want by choosing the option from the "Page Layout" menu and selecting from several border choices.

4. Print your banner on glossy photo stock paper for best results, then assemble it with staples and hang it with pride.
