Wedding veils can be made out of a plethora of different materials, such as tulle, satin, and organza. Below is a basic guide of how to make an equal length two tier wedding veil out of tulle. Obviously adornments, such as pearls or lace, can be added afterwards and the length of the tulle can be adjusted to suit your needs.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Long, Thin Needle
  • Invisible (Clear) Thread
  • 2 Yards of Tulle
  • Clear Plastic Toothed Comb (several inches wide to place into hair to make veil stay in place--can be purchased at a craft store)
  • Straight Pin
  1. Step 1

Thread needle with 1 yard of invisible thread. Double thread over and tie knot. Trim excess thread after knot and set aside.

  2. Step 2

Lay tulle on a flat, clean surface and fold in half to create a doubled over 1 yard of tulle. Position the folded crease towards you.

  3. Step 3

Beginning at the left side of the fold, weave the needle loosely through the tulle along the fold to the right side. Stitches should be roughly 1 inch apart.

  4. Step 4

Pull gently back on the tulle while pulling the thread out towards the right, making the tulle bunch up and gather. Continue bunching the tulle until it reaches a length equal to the width of the comb, then tie a knot to secure and trim excess thread.

  5. Step 5

    Repeat Step 1.

  6. Step 6

Position bunched up tulle on top of comb and secure with straight pin.

  7. Step 7

Sew bunched tulle onto the comb by inserting needle and thread through the tulle and the comb and looping it back through until securely fastened.

Tips & Warnings
  • Placing the bunched up tulle on the comb can be tricky because it is bulky. Try having a friend hold it in place while you sew it on the comb.
  • Any time you work with a needle you will want to be careful not to damage the material. Additionally, most materials you will use, such as tulle or satin, are fairly delicate so be mindful of this as you are bunching the materials as to not damage it.
