How to Erase a DVD-RW

Rewritable DVDs can be erased and rewritten multiple times.

When you erase a rewritable DVD, all of its contents are removed so that you can use the disc like new again. This is useful if you are short of blank multimedia and need to burn a disc. Alternatively, if you use DVD-RWs for backup storage, you can erase the disc before burning a new backup to it.

Instructions

1. Insert the rewritable disc into your DVD drive.

2. Click on the Start button in the lower left corner of the screen, and go to Computer.

3. Select the DVD you inserted.

4. Click "Erase this disc" on the toolbar.

5. Click "Next," then follow the prompts to finish the erasing process.

Tips & Warnings

• Erase individual files or folder from a DVD-RW by viewing the disc's contents in Windows Explorer, clicking on the ones you want to remove and pressing "Delete."
