LimeWire is one of the Internet's largest peer-to-peer file-sharing sites on the web. Internet users can download media files of all types through file extraction from Internet websites. Movie files can also be downloaded from LimeWire. But in order for them to be accessible for playback, they must be converted to a format that is readable for stationary computer programs.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Download the video Converter. Click on the AVS Video Converter link listed below in "Additional Resources." Click on the "Run" option that will be displayed once the File Download screen appears. Follow all of the program's prompts to complete the installation process for the program.

  2. Step 2

Run the Video Converter program once the installation process is complete. Click on the "Open" option that will be displayed on the final installation screen. This link will direct you to the Video Converter's portal.

  3. Step 3

Load your movie files into the Video Converter. Click on the "Browse" option that can be found in the upper-right corner of the screen. When the Windows Explorer dialog window opens, click on the "Documents" folder, select LimeWire in the drop-box menu and click on the "Saved" folder within the LimeWire folder. Your video file should be stored in this folder. Highlight your video file and click on the "Open" tab at the bottom of the dialog window.

  4. Step 4

Choose the output format for your movie file. The output format is defined as the codec you are converting the movie file to. Click on the "to AVI" tab at the top of the program. Click on the "Convert Now" tab to begin the conversion process. The program will display an indication when the conversion process is complete.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always use the AVI codec when you are attempting to convert a movie file for virtual or streaming playback. The AVI format is the most compatible format for movie playback in computer programs.
  • Make sure the movie file is saved to your computer's hard drive. If the file is not stored on your computer, there will be no way of loading it into the video converter.
