Things You'll Need:
- Baking soda, white vinegar, or enzymatic cleaner
- Cold water
- Spray bottle
- Absorbent towels
- Hand-held vacuum or vacuum hose attachment
-
Step 1
Remove any cover on the mattress (some do not have one). Clean the cover according to the label instructions.
-
Step 2
Using a dry towel, blot up as much of the spill as possible from the mattress surface.
-
Step 3
Sprinkle baking soda on the spill. Allow it to absorb any additional moisture on the mattress surface. Then vacuum the area.
-
Step 4
Dilute either vinegar or hydrogen peroxide with cold water, using a mix of equal parts vinegar or hydrogen peroxide and water. Place the solution in a spray bottle. If you are using an enzymatic cleaner, follow the instructions on the container.
-
Step 5
Spray the spill area. How much you spray depends on how deeply the spill has penetrated the mattress. Don't pour the solution on the mattress.
-
Step 6
Blot up any excess moisture and allow the mattress to air dry completely. Drying may take several hours.
-
Step 7
Repeat these steps if any stain or odor remains.
