How to Change a Swiss Army Watch Band

When the time comes to replace your Swiss Army watch band, you can breathe a sigh of relief, because this is a simple process. With a spring bar tool, which is what the professionals use, or a simple #00 flathead screwdriver, you can pop the old watch band off and pop the new one on in minutes.

Things You'll Need

• Spring bar tool or #00 flathead screwdriver

Instructions

1. Place the watch, new band and your tools on a flat table or work bench. Make sure there is plenty of light illuminating your work area.

2. Hold the watch in one hand and your spring bar tool or screwdriver in the other.

3. Work the blade of the screwdriver or spring bar tool between the lip of the spring bar and the spring bar socket in the watch body.

4. Angle the screwdriver blade away from the watch body---this will cause the spring bar to pop free.

5. Repeat the same process for the other strap of the watch band.

6. Carefully pull the spring bars out of both old watch band straps and slide them into the straps of your new watch band.

7. Place one end of the spring bar into a bar socket in the watch body.

8. Use your spring bar tool or screwdriver to wedge the other side of the spring bar into its corresponding socket. Be patient, or you will end up dropping the strap and hunting for the spring bar. Repeat this process with the other strap of the new watch band.
