How to Enable the Printer Spooler Service

The print spooler service allows a computer to schedule print jobs. Without it, your printer won't work. When you send the command to print a document, you'll see that the print jobs are in queue by clicking on the printer icon in the task bar, but the printer won't print anything, which can be a headache until you figure out that the simplest way to fix the problem is to activate the print spooler service.

Instructions

1. Right-click on "Computer" or "My Computer" and a drop-down menu will appear.

2. Click on "Manage."

3. Click on "Services" and a list will open in the right pane.

4. Scroll down the list until you find the item called "Print Spooler." Click on it to open the "Properties" screen.

5. In the "Startup type" section, select "Automatic," and in the "Service status" section, click on "Start." Click on "Apply" and "OK" to enable the print spooler.
