Things You'll Need:
- Battery powered radio
- 2 Ft. high wire fencing: the checkered kind
- A steel rod for every corner of your garden
- Thin steel wire to tie the fencing to the posts
-
Step 1
First you will want to have your garden planted or at least laid out so you know where things will be. When you know the definite edges of your garden, pound in a steel rod or post at every corner so that you will be able to put up your fence.
-
Step 2
Unroll the fencing so that you have enough to tie to the first post, do this by using the thin steel wire. continue unrolling the fence and tying it to the posts at each corner, stretch it some as you go so that the fence stays tight and will not sag.
-
Step 3
Now that you have the fence up, your garden is pretty secure, but a large raccoon could still climb over a 2 ft. fence, so now i'll reveal the real secret to keeping them pesky critters out of your precious garden. A small battery powered radio. Place the radio somewhere in your garden so that it is out of your way but still accessible, the station you tune it to doesn't matter, and the volume is your preference. You want the volume high enough so that it will be heard throughout the garden, but not too loud so that your neighbor won't get mad. The sound from the radio scares animals away because they think a person is there.
