The most verastile tool for most any pouch

Things You'll Need:

  • toner kit
  1. Step 1

In all the amazing tools there are out there used to troubleshoot electronics, I have found the most versital is the Progressive Toner Generator kit. You can use the generator solo to check resistance, voltage, inverted voltage, signals, etc. To check voltage simply leave the switch on the top in the off position. Take both leads and touch them to a set of wires your believe are live. Any electricity at all will cause the LED to come on. Whether it is AC or DC.

  2. Step 2

Turn the switch to line and you can almost measure a resistor. With experience this is possible. A total short is total brightness. Less gets dimmer. Should your resistance waver, so will the dimness of the light. Turn the switch to the tone position and it will make a speaker sound off, queitly but none the less. You can use this while searching or testing speakers in yuor home or car. To check inverted DC, Put the switch to the middle. Touch a set of wires to a DC circuit. If the LED is red, this means which ever wire is hooked to the red lead is positive, should it turn green, the red lead is connected to a negative source.

  3. Step 3

The set also comes with a toner referred to as a banana. This is the one with the speaker. This guy is great for detecting signals. If your speakers don't work, put this on the back of the speaker, if
sound is heard out the device when yuo prees the black button on it, the speaker is bad.

  4. Step 4

Put the two together. Turn the generator to tone and place the banana beside it. You should hear a warbling tone. Clip this generator to a dead set of wires and you can trace them to wherever they go. This is used for audio, security, and lots of other fileds. Take the black wire and hook it to a ground wire and you amplify your pickup ability many times over and can search for wires in walls. Hope you have fun and get experience.
