Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Thinking Cap
  • Paper
  • Pen/pencil
  • flash cards
  • dictionary
  1. Step 1

First of all, your going to need some vocabulary words to memorize. It may be quite overwhelming to memorize lots of words at once so you'll need to break it down in groups of five words at a time. Grab your dictionary and flash cards and choose five words you want to memorize.

  2. Step 2

Once you have your five words, write them down each on a separate flash card, and on the back of each card, write the corresponding meaning to each word. Go through each card, and read the word, then flip it over and look what the meaning is. Do this until you know all words without flipping the cards over.

  3. Step 3

There are many ways your brain takes information in. That's why it's important to learn in different ways, so your brain can convert its' short-term memory, into long-term memory. Say each word out loud in the language your learning, and then in your native language. Do this several times.

  4. Step 4

Now, write down each word in both languages, and say it in your mind as you write. Do this until it becomes very boring, because you won't learn until it becomes tiring. Just keep with it!

  5. Step 5

The final and last step, is called SYL (Speak Your Language. This means to always use the language you are learning as much as possible. The goal is to begin thinking in the language you are learning instead of your native language. Good luck!!!
