Satellite internet service has added another option for internet users to choose from. This has created more competition between all internet service providers and has generally made it more affordable to obtain internet access. These tips will help you decide which internet service to consider for your particular needs.

Things You'll Need:

  • home or laptop computer
  1. Step 1

Wired vs. Non-Wired. Hands down satellite offers the best mobile service available. Since there is no wiring necessary (DSL cable connection) there are limitless locales that you can receive internet access, like the desert, at sea and other rural areas that would require cable wiring. Most satellite providers offer additional plans where you can get mobile service in your car or R.V.

  2. Step 2

Price. The price for internet access via broadband DSL is still slightly lower than most satellite service companies. To counteract the increase in customer options most fiber-optic and cable DSL companies are offering very good deals. For instance Comcast is offering internet service for $19.99 a month (for three months) plus $75 cash back. At the moment SkywayUSA offers the lowest priced service at 29.95 a month but be aware there are often hidden installation fees similar to satellite television.

  3. Step 3

Speed. Satellite service companies claim to have similar connection speeds to broadband DSL. It should be noted that there have been numerous complaints about losing connectivity for short periods of time while using satellite service. The few satellite companies that offer the best connection speeds require purchasing an additional service that guarantees fewer interruptions, but comes with a higher price tag. Keep in mind that all satellite internet service will be interrupted during heavy rain or snow as seen with satellite t. v providers. For these reasons broadband/cable DSL service offers the fastest and most reliable internet access on the market.
