You will learn how to shape foam rubber into a prop for use during the "Address to the Haggis" by Scottish poet Robert Burns.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Upholstery foam, spray paint for foam, polyester batting, a knee-high nylon stocking, Coat'N'Sculpt or thick white glue.
  1. Step 1

This is an explanation of how I made a "fake" Haggis for an Address as part of the 2009 Minnesota Tartan Day Celebrations in Minneapolis. The Orator is to stab the haggis, so I needed to make certain he could still accomplish that.

  2. Step 2

The paint is dry and time is running out! I had many things I could have used for the casing but this one made the most sense to me. The batting stayed in place because I kept the nylon away from it as I pulled on the stocking.

  3. Step 3

A display of the final product makes a wonderful conversation starter. The wide variety of comments it brings is quite funny. Some thought it looked perfect while others thought it looked perfectly disgusting. Enjoy!
