Acrylic nails are great because they require almost no maintenance and they are tough, perfect for a busy woman. But when it is time to take a break, salons charge you for the removal of acrylic nails, turning a luxury into a pain. But you do not have to big money to regain your natural nails. Acrylic nail removal can be done at home with little effort. Read on to learn how!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Acetone Nail Polish Remover
  • Glass bowl
  • Petroleum jelly
  • Timer
  • Orange Stick
  • Nail Buffer
  • Nail Conditioner or Oil
  1. Step 1

    Wash hands and remove all nail polish completely.

  2. Step 2

    File acrylic nails as short as comfortably possible.

  3. Step 3

    Pour nail polish remover into bowl, deep enough for nails to be completely immersed.

  4. Step 4

    Coast finger tips with petroleum jelly, avoiding nails, to prevent damage to your skin from the harsh chemicals in the nail polish.

  5. Step 5

    Set the timer for 10 minutes and soak nails. When the timer dings, check acrylic nails to see if they are swollen and soft. If they are seem to be pliable, scrap off the soft layer with your orange stick.

  6. Step 6

    Repeat step 5 until the acrylic nails are completely removed, and then wash fingers thoroughly to remove the petroleum jelly and the excess remover.

  7. Step 7

    Buff nails until they shine and all traces of acrylic are completely gone.

  8. Step 8

    Apply nail conditioner or nail oil to nourish nail after being treated with harsh chemicals.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your nails are sensitive, try using old strips of towels or cloth to scrap acrylic nail instead of the orange stick.
  • Make sure you have at least 40 minutes to spend on your nails. A great time to remove your nails is during your favorite tv show.
  • Save the glass bowl for future manicure sessions!
  • Do not soak nail for more than 40 minutes.
