How to Change Computer Folder Icons

Windows has dozens of folder icons to choose from.

By default, new folders you create on Windows computers have the standard manila folder icon. Even though the folders have different names, the similarities in appearance can make it difficult to distinguish between them. Windows computers have a library of folder icons, including images like stars, CDs and cameras, that can help you to customize your folders.

Instructions

1. Right-click on a folder.

2. Click "Properties."

3. Click the "Customize" tab.

4. Click "Change Icon."

5. Click on one of the available icons, then click "OK."

Tips & Warnings

• Click "Restore Defaults" in the Properties menu to return to the standard folder icon.
