Use Sinus Rinse Daily to Maintain Sinus Health

The air we breathe is filled with pollen and all sorts of pollution. It is no wonder that so many people have allergies and stuffy noses. One way to help guard against getting colds, sinus infections, post-nasal drip and other respiratory ailments, is to rinse your nose daily. I don’t mean standing over the sink and sticking your nose under the faucet! I mean using saline packets mixed with water and shooting them up your nose to clear it out. The best one that I have found is called Neilmed Sinus Rinse Mixed packets. Read on and I will show you how.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Neilmed Sinus Rinse Mixture Packets and bottle, distilled or tap water, tissues
  1. Step 1
    The bottle
    The bottle

Buy the Neilmed Sinus Rinse Mixture Packets at any drugstore. If you are a first time buyer, make sure you buy the box that has the bottle in it. When you are buying refills, you can buy any box you want after the initial purchase.

  2. Step 2

Get distilled water. My doctor and my husband insist on mixing the packets with distilled water. I use regular tap water and I am fine.

  3. Step 3

Pour one packet of sinus rinse in the bottle. Then put warm water, distilled or not, in the bottle, cover it, and mix it up.

  4. Step 4
    Bend over the sink.
    Bend over the sink.

Bend over the sink. Put the tip of the bottle that has the hole in it up to one of your nostrils. Squeeze the bottle completely. Then let the water come out of your nose into the sink. Repeat. Then do it on the other side. Repeat if there is enough water left in the bottle.

  5. Step 5
    Tilt your head back
    Tilt your head back

Blow your nose continuously. Tilt your head back and front and blow your nose. You could also just stand over the sink, tilt your head up and back, and blow out the excess water.

  6. Step 6
    Blow your nose!
    Blow your nose!

Rinse out the bottle with warm water after each use. You can also wash it with warn soapy water from time to time. I rinse mine with vinegar every couple of weeks. Replace the bottle in approximately 3 months.

  7. Step 7

Perform these steps in the morning and in the evening and you will keep your sinuses healthier than they have ever been before.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don’t be upset if when you bend over after rinsing your sinuses and some water comes out. It is normal. Tilt your head all the way back and front and blow your nose again. It will subside.
  • Do this and you will breathe better. If you feel a little stuffy or not, it will make you feel like your sinuses are clear. Do this especially if you feel like you are developing a cold.
  • Do NOT use sinus rinse if your nose is blocked. See your doctor about it instead.

on 6/3/2009 I use a sinus rinse when I need to. It is natural and much better than medication. It works really well however, it did give me a head rush at first.
