The kids are out of school now and they're BORED!! Some movie theaters have taken pity on us parents and are providing FREE summertime movies. Each location varies in the day they show the free movie and what films are offered. YES, these are older G and PG movies, but your kids get to leave the house, see a movie in the theater and most movies are free or possibly $1 admission.

Things You'll Need:

  • time
  • computer
  • names of local movie theaters
  1. Step 1

Find out what movie theaters are in your area. See if any belong to a chain like AMC theaters.

  2. Step 2

Get on the computer and look the theaters up online. I found several different groups that offer free movies at the theater during the summertime. Most of these movies start at 10:00am.

  3. Step 3

Most of the free movies start sometime in June and have movies until the first week or so in August. Some theaters show a free movie once a week and others have 2 shows to pick from each week on the specified days.

  4. Step 4

Bow-Tie Cinemas's has a free Kid's Club Film Series. I've posted their link below.

  5. Step 5

Regal Entertainment Group has a Free Family Film Festival in many states. Just go to the link below and see if your state has some of their theaters in it.

  6. Step 6

Kerasotes Theater also offer free G and PG movies throughout the summer.

  7. Step 7

Sunrise Cinemas's admission is just 50 cents for their summertime movies.

  8. Step 8

Cinemark has Summer Movie Clubhouse which isn't unfortunately free, but it is cheap. All 10 movies can be purchased in advance for $5.00, or can be purchased separately at the box office for $1.00 per show.

  9. Step 9

Harkins Theaters have a deal similar to Cinemark's.

  10. Step 10

Classic Cinemas's summer movie's admission is $1 per person.

  11. Step 11

AMC's movies are $1 a person, but ALL admission proceeds from AMC Summer MovieCamp will benefit Variety – The Children's Charity and the Will Rogers Institute.

  12. Step 12

Georgia Theatre Company's summer kid show series has a $1 per show admission cost.

  13. Step 13

Dickinson Theaters has as couple of states and theaters that are offering free movies this summer. The cost varies at the different theaters. For some it is a fund raising deal for the local schools with 8 movies costing you $12.50.

  14. Step 14

Local libraries might also be having free summertime movies, but those are general held outdoors and not in the theaters.
