Check Pulse

If your wondering how to check your own pulse or another persons pulse its really quite simple just follow these 3 simple pulse checking procedures. If you want to check your heart rate once you find your pulse start a count of the number of beats or pulses you feel in 6 seconds. If you count 15 then multiply that by 10 and it should give you your heart rate of 150 (bpm) beats per minute.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Neck
  • Wrist
  • Check
  • 2 Fingers
  • 2 Hands
  1. Step 1

There are 3 easy ways to check your pulse or the pulse of another person. First take two fingers preferably your index and middle finger. Then keep your 2 fingers close together and put them under the neck on either side of jaw. The best place to find a pulse is where the jaw bone sticks out the most. Put your finger just in front of that point but not on your check make sure you fingers are located more on your neck. Its okay to push a little to help find the pulse.

  2. Step 2

Secondly you can find a pulse on either wrist. Again take the same two fingers. Flip the arm over so the bottom of the wrist is face-up and then put your 2 fingers on the outside portion of the wrist. You could try the inside or the middle but its easier to find a pulse by placing your fingers higher up near the outside.

  3. Step 3

The final place most people check their pulse is their chest or heart area. Its not necessary to find exactly where your heart is but it will create a stronger pulse. Place both of your hands or one hand firmly against the center of your chest and remain calm. You should start to feel a pulse and again if you move your hand(s) around on your chest you can find a stronger pulse in certain areas. So that's how to check a pulse.

on 5/28/2009 That's good Handy, especially the part where you use the fingers only, why? I think the Thumb has a Pulse too, so it would skew the results! 5*starz ~ Carson
