Step 1
Cold water settingUse cold water to wash their clothes. I cost less for you to wash clothes on a cold water cycle than on a warm or hot cycle. This also minimizes the fading of these clothes, which is important if you are going to use them as hand-me-downs in the future or are planning to sell them when baby out-grows them.
-
Step 2
The many choicesWhen you purchase laundry detergent consider this: Cost per load the amount. the size of the bottle means nothing in comparison to the amount of detergent needed per load. Consider also using a brand that is cheaper like Ajax, Trend, or Purex. The special detergents for baby clothes are not really nessecary because most children are not irritated by the same detergent that we use on our own clothes. If you decide to use your regular detergent on their clothes then do a double rinse cycle before removing them from the washer.
-
Step 3
Has a ton of uses.Use white vinegar instead of fabric softener, it is better for your baby's skin and it cost a whole lot less than Downy. No offense Downy.
-
Step 4
Save the Earth, use less energy.Dry your children's clothes for 5-10 mins then allow them to air dry on a clothesline. This method allows the clothes to be fluffy wrinkle free and they won't shrink as much. Clotheslines, drying racks, and hangers more than pay for themselves on the first use. Think about the money that you saved on your energy bill every month.
-
Step 5
Learned in the Navy.Use a "ditty bag" for the socks and "onesies". A "ditty-bag" is a net bag that can be close off and used in the laundry. It serves two purposes; it's a laundry bag and it keeps all of the socks and "onesies" together during the wash and dry cycles. No more separating.
-
Step 6
Shout or Vanish. Tide makes one too.Keep a stain stick with you at all times. Children are living messes so there is always that looming chance of a messy shirt or sleeper. It's good for our clothes too. These tips can help you save money when baby comes and you'll be glad to use it. Thanks for reading.
