Stay on the road of riches by getting the best deals on used cars!

Are you getting ready to sell or trade in your used car? Are you getting ready to buy a used car? If the answer to either of these questions is yes, then before you take any action, make sure you know the legitimate used car values so you can strike a strong deal. This article will provide step by step instructions on how to find and research used car values using the NADA consumer website. In doing research on used car values prior to buying, selling, or trading in used cars, you will be able to get the deal that you deserve and desire.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

First, to research used car values, you will need to go to the NADA consumer website. For your convenience, a direct link has been provided in the resources section near the bottom of this article. Once on the website, click on the button that reads, "Used Car Center".

  2. Step 2

Now that you are in the used car center, click on the "Used Car Prices" link that will allow you to get used car values as far back as 1990. You will first be requested to select the body style of the car you would like to research - for example, sedans. Next, enter the make of the car - Nissan, for example. Now select the year of the used car you are thinking about buying or selling. Finally, select the model, enter the mileage and the options, and click on the "Continue" button.

  3. Step 3

After entering all of the information required to retrieve used car values, you will be given a series of values - rough trade in, average trade in, clean trade in, and clean retail. Obviously you will need to be the judge of the used car's current condition. To get a definition of the various values, simply click on the condition type - rough trade in, for example. Now that you have the used car values, you should feel more empowered to make a better deal as a buyer or seller. If you are working with a dealer, you may consider printing off this information prior to negotiating a strong deal.
