Step 1
Log onto Livestrong.com. If you haven't already signed up begin by doing so and familiarizing yourself with the website. (Look below for a link providing information concerning setting up an account on livestrong.com)
-
Step 2
Log into your account and find "Daily Plate" on the tool bar. If you haven't already find "set your calorie goal" (about 1/4 of the way down the page, in the center, highlighted in orange) Input the information needed. Information will include: current weight, how much weight you wish to lose, how fast you want to lose the weight and exercise habits.
-
Step 3
Once you have added your information the "daily plate" should tell you how many calories you can eat each day.
-
Step 4
Begin to add what you have eaten. Input item into search engine. The website contains a tremendous amount of foods along with the calories of each serving. If what you are looking for does not show up, try refining the search using less words.
-
Step 5
As your food to your chart, you will begin to see several different things. You will begin to see your calorie count go down as foods are subtracted from your total. You will also begin to see your calories being broke down into fat, cholesterol, fiber, sugar, protein, carbs etc. Not only do you get the benefit of seeing exactly what you are putting in your body, you also get to see how each calorie benefits or hinders your progress.
-
Step 6
As you continue you will realize all kinds of cool features. For example, you will see that the diary tracks not only daily totals, but weekly and monthly totals as well. You will be thrilled to note that if you add your daily activities (down to brushing your teeth and getting dressed) you will be "awarded" more calories to enjoy.
-
Step 7
I would encourage you to make a priority counting and logging your calories. You will be amazed at how and where your weight loss goals are being devastated.
