Things You'll Need:
- The nearest animal shelter
-
Step 1
Go to the local animal shelter with your kid. There are animal shelters everywhere. All you have to do is look in your local phone book to find one. There are also websites that show you a list of local animal shelters. You might even want to ask the local veterinarian for suggestions.
-
Step 2
Once you get there, ask person in charge about volunteering opportunities. Animal shelters are in desperate need for people to help walk dogs, clean the kennels, and even take care of the puppies.
-
Step 3
Stay with your kid and see how your child enjoys it. He might have a great deal of fun taking care of various animals and making sure that they are ready to go off to be adopted. Don’t force the kid into doing it if it is not what they like to do.
-
Step 4
If you can’t volunteer at a local shelter, you can always go off and offer to pet sit for a friend who is going on vacation or even just to walk the dogs. People always need help taking care of their pets when they have to go away.

on 7/20/2009 My daughter and I did research on taking care of rabbits, and made a video. She learned a lot from it.
