Instructions

    • 1

Place the spoons in the refrigerator or freezer approximately one hour before dipping them. The cold will help the chocolate set faster.

    • 2

Melt the chocolate in the top of a double boiler over simmering water, stirring until smooth and no lumps remain. Allow to cool for five to ten minutes.

    • 3

Dip the chilled spoon in the chocolate and shake lightly to allow excess chocolate to drip back into the pot.

    • 4

While the chocolate is still wet, dip the spoon into a shallow bowl with the decorative sprinkles. Shake off any excess.

    • 5

Lay the spoon carefully on a sheet of waxed paper and allow the chocolate to harden completely at room temperature.

    • 6

If preferred, omit the sprinkles and drizzle on chocolate of the opposite color decoratively. Or dip the spoon in one color of chocolate, allow it to harden and then dip it halfway into the other color.

    • 7

Cut the cellophane into 6-by-6-inch squares and wrap around the top of the finished spoon. Tie with a ribbon.

    • 8

Store the (covered) finished spoons at room temperature until ready for use.

Tips & Warnings

  • Do not place chocolate-covered spoons in the refrigerator. It may cause the chocolate to oxidize or condense as it returns to room temperature.
