Make Bow Hunting Targets

Target practice is a pleasant pastime in and of itself, but it also helps improve your aim for hunting. Making the target is super-quick and simple. If you have 10 or so minutes to spare, you can make a target that is safe, functional and fun for everyone.

Things You'll Need

  • Two bales of straw or hay
  • Large piece of cardboard (a large, flattened box works well)
  • Permanent marker
  • String

Instructions

    • 1

      Stack the two bales of straw or hay, one on top of the other. They will be most stable if they are leaning against something straight and sturdy, such as a barn wall.

    • 2

      Draw a target on the blank side of the cardboard with the market. Your target might be a standard set of concentric rings or another image of your choice.

    • 3

      Tie the cardboard securely to the front of the straw bales with the string. Make sure the target image is not askew.

    • 4

      You're all set. Ready, aim, fire.
