How to Flip a Computer Screen Upside Down

Bad downloads, computer viruses or accidental keystroke combinations might cause you to flip the image on your computer screen inadvertently. Some users, though, might find it easier to view programs or images by rotating the screen. Still others might have a personal preference that involves manipulating the image on the monitor. Whatever the reason, you can flip or rotate a computer screen image by tweaking Display properties.

Instructions

1. Click on the Windows Start icon in the lower left corner of the desktop and select the "Control Panel" option.

2. Click on the "Appearance and Personalization" link in the Control Panel window.

3. Click on the "Display" link, then click on "Change display settings."

4. Click in the Orientation dropdown menu and select either "Landscape (flipped)" or "Portrait (flipped)."

5. Click once on the "Apply" button. The screen will momentarily adjust according to the settings you selected. Cursor and mouse movements also will adjust based on your selections.

6. Click once on the "OK" button on the pop-up window to keep the new settings. If you do not click on the “OK” button within a certain amount of time, the monitor image will revert to the way it was.

Tips & Warnings

• Some graphics cards allow you to rotate the screen 90 degrees at a time. To access these settings, click on "Advanced settings" in the "Change display settings" window, then choose the tab for your graphics card's control center. Certain graphics cards also allow you to rotate the screen by using the keyboard shortcut "Ctrl-Alt" along with the arrow keys.
