1
Drink plenty of water, but sip it slowly to avoid getting bubbles in your stomach.
-
2
Do some light exercise if you can handle it. Going for a quick, leisurely walk, swimming a few laps, or just doing some light housecleaning sometimes helps relieve gas pains or makes them less intense.

3
Focus on your triggers. If the pain is related to acid ingestion, then avoid eating a big meal, especially gassy or acid-indigestion trigger foods, including Mexican, chocolate and alcohol. These foods could bloat you and make your abdominal pain worse. Stick to bland foods while you're in pain, such as toast, bananas and rice.

4
Take some antacids, such as Tums or Rolaids, to relieve the pain temporarily of acid indigestion and sour stomach.

5
Use a heating pad or a hot water bottle. According to a study at the University College London, researchers found that placing a hot water bottle over the abdomen for an hour can relieve stomach and pelvic pain related to stomachaches, cystitis (inflammation of the bladder) and menstrual cramps. The heat stops the pain in a similar molecular fashion that a painkiller would.
