Things You'll Need:
- Windows XP or Vista
- Media Player 11

Step 1
Download and install Media Player 11 on your computer, if the program doesn't automatically install, using the automatic update feature of Windows XP or Vista.

Open the program, and choose the "Library" Tab at the top of the screen. Click on the "Arrow" beneath the tab, and select the option "Add to Library" to have Media Player search your computer for music, video and other media. Media Player will automatically classify files into songs, video, podcasts or other categories.

Copy music from CDs or DVDs to add to your collections. This is accomplished from the "Rip" tab at the top of the screen.

Step 4
Expect DVD movies or CDs of any type to begin playing automatically once they are inserted into the appropriate drive. Windows Media Player 11 will recognize the files, and you can watch the movie or visualization from the "Now Playing" tab.

Use the "Media Guide" tab to shop various Internet stores for additional songs, albums, radio stations, podcasts and more.

Step 6
Create your own playlists of your favorite music or podcasts, and burn the list to CD or DVD to play on regular CD players, such as in your car, or DVD players. Use the "Burn" tab to make your CDs or DVDs.

Step 7
Sync your playlist to your iPod, MP3 player or other mobile device. The playlists can be transferred from the "Sync" tab at the top of the screen.

Broadcast your playlist to any media device attached to your network, such as your Xbox.
