How to Find Kids' Summer Activities
Kids look forward to summertime all year long. When it gets here, it is nice if you can involve kids in summertime activities. However, finding these activities may not be so easy and knowing where to look is half the battle. Even after you find a few programs, you must be able to tell whether it is worth your money. A good activity will include many hands-on activities. Not only does this keep your child's attention, it actually increases her cognitive thinking skills.

Check in parenting magazines that are local to your area. Many businesses advertise summer programs in parenting magazines. Oftentimes, these magazines feature a slew of summer activities for kids. Day camps, overnight adventures and weeklong classes are just a few examples of what you will find.

2
Ask your local library about summer kid programs. Book clubs, author readings and special craft sessions are common summer activities. If your child enjoys reading and computer time, then the library just may be the place to spend some of his time this summer.

Look in the YMCA or other recreational sports centers in your area. These places offer swim classes and sporting events. If your child is active and wants to expire some energy during the summer months, this may be the best bet for her.

Pick up brochures at art and science museums in your town. Many museums offer summer programs for kids. These programs may involve art activities, rocket-building or space-observation adventures. These are good summertime activities for kids who love working with their hands.

5
Visit your local zoo to find summertime fun for your animal-loving kids. Zoos offer summer programs for different age groups. Activities range from overnight stays to up close and personal meetings with exotic animals.

Talk with someone at an educational or tutoring facility. These places often offer educational summer programs that focus on a particular subject; for example, a kindergarten readiness program for preschoolers, or a science lab class that allows kids to experiment in chemistry and physics. It is a fun way to help your child get ahead in school.
