Things You'll Need:
- Internet and/or phone
-
Step 1
City Recreation. Most major cities and towns have a recreation office. Look it up on the internet or call and ask about summer activities for kids.
-
Step 2
City Pools. Most cities and towns have pools that are open daily for the summer. Kids may be free or a couple of dollars. If you call the city recreation office, ask about special/fun pools, such as wave pools or indoor pools.
-
Step 3
Parks & Playgrounds. Look for neighborhood parks that have safe, fun jungle gyms and other friendly equipment for kids. Some larger new parks, even have splashpads (see image) that run all day. This is a great activity for beating the summer heat.
-
Step 4
Libraries. Call your local libraries and ask about kids' activities. They usually offer weekly infant/toddler storytime, kids games/crafts and other activities for all ages (birth-age 17).
-
Step 5
Musuem/Zoo. Call the closest children's museum, science center and zoo. Ask about free or low-cost kids days. Often for the summer, they offer special activities for free or a lower rate. You can also buy discounted tickets at your grocery store.
