Ok first lets get some things out of the way. Do not use flooding, burning, blowing up or fumigation. In the case of the first three they rarely work. And the fumigation one? Only professionals need to use it cause it is very poisonous. Now onto the gophers, the first thing you have to do is create a perimeter. Thus we are making a fence. Take your favorite gopher proof material (chicken wire does very well) and fence off the area you no longer want gophers to have access too. Make sure you dig at least two feet down into the earth along the perimeter to at least make the gophers work to get in there.

So the gophers have been put on notice by the fence. Next we move onto bait, since gophers are rodents bait will work very well (the exact opposite for moles). Just go to your local store and look for gopher specific bait, or do a quick online search using this articles ads. This also includes various poisons that work on rodents as well.

If you don't want to poison the little devil gophers then you may want to get a natural predator. This could include dogs, cats or even a gopher snake. These predators will not only attack and eat the gophers, but may even harass them enough to make them leave your yard alone.

Also you could look into planting a plant called Gopher Spurge. This plant apparently displeases gophers very much. Another rather unproven method is too feed gophers actually pieces of gum. Supposedly they can't digest the stuff, and thus gopher death. No one really knows if these actually work but it never hurts to try.
