Things You'll Need:
- lean meats (poultry, beef)
- fruits and vegetables
- colander
- knife
- baby juice
- water
- blender
- ice cube tray
- zip lock bags
- marker
- cutting board
- bowl
-
Step 1
PREPARE THE FOOD:
The first thing you need to make your own baby food is to remove any excess fats from the meats. Remove the seeds and peels from the fruits. The vegetables can be steamed in the peels. After they are steamed you can remove the vegetable peels. -
Step 2
COOK THE FOOD:
Cook each food ingredient in separate pots. Stream the vegetables to prevent losing nutrition and boil the meats. Do not add any type of seasonings or salt. Fruits do not need to be cooked to make your own baby food. -
Step 3
PUREE THE FOOD:
Cut up the different foods separately to avoid contamination and add it to the blender. Once each food is cut up add some juice or milk and blend it. Select the Puree button on the blender. Then pour the pureed baby food through a colander to remove any large chunks. Let the food land in a bowl. Pour the pureed baby food that fell to the bowl into the ice cube trays.
Note:
Remember to puree each food one at a time. Each vegetable, fruit, and meat will get it's turn. Clean the blender and colander before each use. -
Step 4
FREEZE IT AND BAG IT:
The final step is to freeze the pureed baby food you won't be using in the ice cube trays. Once the trays are completely frozen, remove the frozen baby food cubes and place them in Ziploc bags to keep them fresh in the freezer. Label the bags with the type of food and the date so that you'll keep track of the expiration. This frozen food will last about 5 weeks.
When you want to feed your baby the frozen food, heat it up or let it melt. Allow your baby to eat the defrosted food within 24 hours to avoid eating spoiled food. This is your you make your own baby food.
