Take Care of Your Lawn in the Summer Months

Summer is a great time of year to get outside and enjoy your yard. You might have barbecues or lawn parties with your neighbors and you want your grass to be green and free of weeds so everyone can enjoy. Here is how you can take care of your summer lawn so you can enjoy the green of summer.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Mow the lawn to about a level of ¾ to 1 inch in length. In addition, use the weed eater on any areas that cannot be mowed. Mow the lawn at least every 2 weeks to keep the grass nicely cut.

  2. Step 2

Sprinkle weed killer on the lawn to be sure to get rid of anything that is not grass. Allow it to sit for the recommended period, watering when necessary.

  3. Step 3

Lay down grass seed where there are patchy areas of grass. Place sod where grass is 50% or more gone. Use lawn fertilizer and weed killer on a regular basis to keep the lawn healthy.

  4. Step 4

Install a sprinkler system and set it on a timer to ensure your lawn is properly hydrated. During rainy periods, adjust the setting to discourage root rot.

Tips & Warnings
  • If grass begins to get brown attempt to adjust water, fertilizer and weed killer one at a time to test
