Things You'll Need:
- Personal computer
-
Step 1
SOFTWARE
We use ANYTIME ORGANIZER, software that has calendar features, an electronic address book, to-do list, notepad, password generator and expense report formats. Enter all the family and friend birthdays, anniversaries and other events in the calendar portion of the program once, and see it into perpetuity. Each day, when you pull up the weekly or monthly view of your schedule, special occasions will appear. When we enter a name, we also put what year the person was born in, so we can reference their age in a greeting card or phone call without having to guess. Same thing for weddings/anniversaries, enter the year they were married so you can correctly cite the years of wedded bliss on a card or in a phone call. -
Step 2
BIRTHDAY-BOOK is a free online service that lets you put in birthdays and other special occasions and get notified before the special date. Birthday-Book.com says they are "the most comprehensive and easy to use website for storing important birthday related information." It has free e-cards, and a page with links to discounted birthday party supplies, invitations, gifts, music, and other merchandise.

Step 3
Jacquie LawsonJACQUIE LAWSON is a British artist offering very classy, elegant and playful animated e-cards with composed music for each one. A one-year membership is $12 US for one year or $18 for two years. This allows you to send all the e-cards on the site as many times as you like to as many different people as you like, for an entire year. Her animations are spectacular and there are 130 animated scenes/story-telling cards to choose from for every occasion.
If you enter birthdays and special occasions for the people in your life, you get reminder e-mails, making it so easy to remember those important dates. -
Step 4
Met MuseumPERPETUAL BIRTHDAY CALENDAR
Perpetual calendars are a convenient hard copy way to record and display birthdays and other events. Target stores sell them as do specialty paper/boxed card shops, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art has a nice on-line selection. I've bought several over the years and given them to memory-challenged friends and family. Write them in there once and hang it where you can see it, you're good to go.
