Want to Clean your Stainless Steel Naturally? Check here for some ideas.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Ketchup or Lemon
  • Scrub pad
  • Wet Cloth
  • Clean Dry Cloth
  • toothbrush (optional)
  1. Step 1

First take the stainless item you're wanting to clean and wipe any dust or dirt off the surface using your wet rag.

  2. Step 2

Next, use a liberal amount of Ketchup and pour it on the surface of the item you want to clean. The acid in the tomatoes will help eat away at the tarnish. Leave it on for 2 minutes, scour with a rough surface pad and wipe off with a wet cloth. If the surface is still tarnished, repeat this step.

Another option if you don't want to use Ketchup is Lemon Juice. You can cut a lemon in 1/2 and rub the stainless steel with the cut side of the lemon, letting the juice sit on the surface. Wait 2 minutes, scour with a rough pad and wipe with a clean wet cloth. Repeat until the stainless is tarnish free.

  4. Step 4

The last step is to rinse the surface thoroughly with water and dry with a clean dry cloth.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try using a toothbrush instead of the scouring pad to reach small places.
  • These steps also work to clean your copper.
  • Do not consume any food product such as the Ketchup or Lemon, after using them to clean your metals
  • Be sure to wash both the scouring pad and cloth before using them again.
  • Keep a set specifically for cleaning your stainless and copper.
