Step 1
Puppy-proof the confine area: remove any items your puppy may be tempted to chew on (socks or shoes) and make sure that electrical cords are out of reach.
-
Step 2
Put your puppy in a crate while you are away.
Supply your pup with chew toys. -
Step 3
Closely supervise your pup: like caring for a toddler, you should always be aware where and what your puppy is doing.
-
Step 4
Make departures low key: to avoid separation anxiety, before you leave rub a bone between your hands and give it to your puppy 15 minutes before you leave. This should keep him occupied so you can leave without a fuss.
-
Step 5
Give your puppy plenty of exercise: one hour pf running, walking and/or swimming twice a day (of course this is ideal).
