"Sniping", on the shop wizard, is continually searching for an item or items until you find one for really cheap. This is a very effective strategy to make neopoints and thus is very popular. The concept is simple: get a really cheap item as fast as you can before the next guy gets it. However, an experienced sniper is far more likely to profit here than a newer one. Here are the tips to make sniping extremely profitable:

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Know what to search for. The best items are faeries, map pieces, codestones, paint brushes, neggs, and dubloons. People are constantly putting these in their shops, so the odds that you will find a very cheap one are very good compared to other items.

  2. Step 2

Take a chance on obscure items. I recently sniped the book Don't Call Me Cute for 1000 neopoints; it's worth upwards of 70,000. There is little demand for this item and it probably sat in that shop for a good amount of time before I found it. Items like this that aren't searched often are usually very easy to get, but of course it's rare that there's a good deal on one. When you start sniping for the day, take the time to search for a few items such as this, for a chance for great profit.

  3. Step 3

These items are cheap for a reason. The user misclicked when pricing the item, didn't know the actual worth of it, or intentionally had it low to get their shop exposure. Also it is common for people to have 1 np sales. When you enter a low priced shop, assess the situation. If it appears to be a user that doesn't really know the prices, it's profitable to mail them asking if they have other things to sell, or at the least to bookmark the shop to check back later.

  4. Step 4

Snipe unbuyables. You may have seen a screenshot somewhere of someone buying a Maraquan Paint Brush (4,200,000) for 99,999 in a user's shop. This type of thing does happen, although rare. From time to time you should always search something of that caliber for a chance at huge profit. For the most part, however, items that are only slightly unbuyable are best to snipe. For example, when One Hundred Dubloon Coin went for about 110,000 there would often be one in a user's shop for 99,999. Buy it, then turn around and sell it quickly in the trading post for 108k, and easy 8,000np profit.

  5. Step 5

Sign up for premium. It costs $8.00 a month, but you get the SSW (Super Shop Wiz) and since it searches the user shops in their entirety, its sniping capabilities are not only very strong; they put non-premium members at a disadvantage.

  6. Step 6

CODESTONES. The demand for these is so great, if you price one at 100 np under the next lowest on the wiz it will literally sell in less than 30 seconds (at most any time of the day). Sniping codestones alone can make thousands. Main Codestone goes for about 9800, but every minute or so there's one for less, maybe 9500, maybe 8000. Buy any and all of them for 9600 and under then sell for 9700 for quick, easy profit. Research the value of all 10 codestones and "codestone snipe" for great profit.

  7. Step 7

You don't need an extremely fast computer to snipe, of course it can't hurt. But when there's a codestone for 1 np, 500 np, and then 9800 np, it may be wise to go for the 500 np one, since someone else probably jumped on the 1 np deal.
