Things You'll Need:
- earplugs or toilet paper
-
Step 1
Find a place you can enjoy the fireworks from a distance. This not only make the fireworks quieter, but there will be a delay between the firework going off and the noise. This will let the parents and kids have a couple of seconds to prepare for the boom so it's not so surprising.
-
Step 2
Watch a few fireworks on youtube or the internet somewhere a couple of days before. This may get your child excited about seeing them live.
-
Step 3
Earplugs!! Even a little toilet paper can make a difference. It may not actually block that much of the noise, but it will help with the anxiety because your child will feel prepared. So the noise won't be as frightening.
-
Step 4
Avoid fireworks to set off at home. These tend to be dangerous anyways for kids. And many children get anxious when they see how close their parents are when they light them.
