How to Add a Chat Line to MySpace

Go to MySpace.com/myspaceim. Clink the "Download" button to begin downloading MySpace IM. MySpace IM is designed to run on Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista.

Wait for MySpace IM to download to your computer's desktop. Open the file and follow the simple step-by-step process to install MySpace IM. You will asked to agree to MySpace IM's terms of service and then asked to click the "Finish" button to complete the installation process.

Log in to MySpace IM using your regular MySpace user name and password. If you do not already have an existing MySpace account, you will be prompted to create one. You will be given the option to have MySpace IM remember your user name and password so that you will not have to log in and out every time. You can also choose to have MySpace IM automatically sign you in and hide, rather than display, your status.

Add your friends to MySpace IM. You will be asked whether you want to add all your friends, add only your top friends or search for friends to add. You can then separate your friends into different categories such as "Family, "Friends" or "Co-workers."

Click on a friend's user name to open a chat window and initiate a chat. Type text into the text box and hit "Send" to relay your IM message to your friend.

Tips & Warnings
MySpace IM allows you to customize your friends list to decide which friends see when you are online. You can access and change these preferences by choosing "File" at the top of the MySpace IM window.
When chatting online, be sure to never give out personal identifying information to people you don't know.
